This project targets majority of internally displaced and host youths including the elderly affected by the ongoing crisis by engaging them in vocational training skills, economic empowerment activities, social entrepreneurship workshops, and servant leadership activities. An estimated 2000 people are expected to benefit from this project from the first 12 months of operation. This number shall increase with time and they shall exploit opportunities of self-employment.

Empowering youths with skills required for a sustainable life is a workshop initiated by New Generation Christ to assist not only youths affected by the ongoing crises in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon but also to impact other groups of persons with creative ideas, entrepreneurial skills, positive development attitudes, and other life sustainable skills. The main objective of this project is to reduce; illiteracy rate, juvenile delinquency, poverty, unemployment rate, and also to enhance positive growth of youths in our society.

So far we have been able to empower 149 persons in the months of June, August and November 2019. On the first edition held from  the 12- 16 of June 2019, we empowered participants on the following:

  • The production of soaps and detergents,
  • Entrepreneurial skills needed for a sustainable life
  • Yogurt processing
  • Transformation of waste papers to beads
  • Transformation of coconut shells to beads
  • Usage of crystal beads to make sleepers
  • Health and wellness
  • How to bake pastries (Bread, puff puff, chin chin, fish roll, Fish pie and hamburger)
  • How to ice cake (Fondant icing)

On our second edition held from the 13th to 16th  of August 2019, empowered them on the following:

  • Using the Computer and Telephone creatively
  • Gender equality
  • Production of Javel water and Coconut oil
  • Scotch fish recipe
  • Health and wellness
  • Entrepreneurial skills

For the third edition held on the 16 of November 2019, the training consisted of the following five modules and three Practical sessions

  2. Community development practices
  3. Career success Fundamentals
  4. Health and Wellness
  5. Fundamentals of becoming a successful entrepreneur

Practical Sessions

  1. Aesthetics (Facial treatment)
  2. Production of Soap and Detergent
  3. Chocolate Processing

At the end of the workshop, a questionnaire was handed to participants to express their level of satisfaction and give feedback about the workshop.

The just ended training workshop was a huge success thanks to the effective collaboration with the Delegation of Youths and Civic Education Buea, MINJEC under the auspices of Mr. Tchinda Edmond, Pedagogic inspector of MINJEC, and also other youth led associations/organisations;
